Officers from Greensborough Highway Patrol are appealing for witnesses following a crash in Montmorency.
Investigators have been told a white truck was travelling along Para Road about 3.30pm on Thursday 8 July.
The truck has become entangled with overhead powerlines and which pulled a power pole from the ground.
The pole and lines fell across multiple lanes and caused major power outages and delays in the area.
Police have been told the truck stopped briefly at the scene before driving off.
