Moorabbin CIU bust fuel fraudsters

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested and charged three people following an investigation into 130,000 of alleged fuel deceptions.

Officers executed four warrants in Dandenong South, Springvale South and Keysborough today as their investigation into fuel purchases over a nine month period concluded.

It is alleged fuel cards were obtained in a victim's name and used to purchase fuel at petrol stations in the south-eastern suburbs.

The fuel was then transported to an address in Keysborough and used to fill vehicles.

The victim's were unaware of the existence of the cards until contacted by debt collection agencies.

Today detectives arrested and charged a 50-year-old man from Springvale South, a 33-year-old man from Dandenong South and a 36-year-old woman from Dandenong South in relation to the scam.

They were all charged with obtain property by deception and handle stolen goods and were bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates' Court on 16 July.
