Council will soon launch an easy, more flexible direct debit system to help you manage your rates through an online payment platform called Payble.
Payble will be available for all ratepayers to use and is being offered in addition to existing payment options such as BPAY, Australia Post, Knox phone and website payments, and in-person payments at the Knox Civic Centre.
Using Payble, you will be able to set your own payment schedule to suit your budget.
You can sign up for Payble from 1 July 2026, with more information to be provided with your 2026-2027 rates notice.
Once you have created a Payble account, you can make secure one-off payments or set up a weekly, fortnightly or monthly payment schedule.
After your payment schedule is set up, you will receive SMS and email reminders for upcoming and overdue payments, and can modify your payment schedules at any time without needing to contact Council.
If you currently use direct debit, Council will contact you from early July with information about changing to Payble or using other payment methods.
Anyone experiencing financial hardship is encouraged to contact Council as soon as possible to discuss available support options.
Knox's decision to use Payble as a new direct debit provider for ratepayers to securely self-manage their rates is unrelated to a bank error in May that impacted some direct debit payments.
