The Allan Labor Government is helping more students get to school - delivering more school bus services across Melbourne's growing northern suburbs in 2026.
Minister for Public and Active Transport Gabrielle Williams today announced 18 new and extended services on nine routes across Melbourne's north will kickstart from Term 1 next year.
Three new school bus services for the new Ngayuk College in Kalkallo, which will give students living in Beveridge, Donnybrae, Olivine, Katalia, Peppercorn Hill and Atticus estates easier access to their school.
Mickleham Secondary College students will also have a new bus service, with the service set to run between Kalkallo and Mickleham Secondary College.
School bus services for Wallan Secondary College will also be improved, with more coverage for students living across Beveridge, and for Wallara Waters and the estates off Hidden Valley Boulevard, in Wallan.
From next year students under 18 will be able to travel to school for free on these routes using their Youth myki, helping ease cost-of-living pressures for families.
A yearly student pass currently costs $755, but from next year children aged under 18 can travel for free and for a family with three eligible children, that's a saving of $2,265 a year.
Full details of route and timetable changes will be available from schools prior to the start of term.
These latest improvements are part of a $25 million investment in the Victorian Budget 2022/23 to introduce, modify and extend school bus services across the state, with a focus on new schools in growth areas, delivering better services for thousands of Victorian students.
