Since coming to Government in 2014, the Hodgman Liberal Government has had a strong Plan to continue to invest in the job creating infrastructure that Tasmania needs for our future to support investment and connect our communities.
Mr O'Byrne has absolutely no credibility as the former failed Minister and it appears Labor still has no plan, just more shrill criticism.
Last year we delivered Tasmania's first ever detailed 10 Year Infrastructure Project Pipeline. The Pipeline included 247 projects, each valued at $5 million or more, and totalling a combined $13.9 billion over the 10 years.
Infrastructure Tasmania has further work underway developing a 30 year Infrastructure Strategy, a significant project which is looking across all infrastructure classes including energy, water, and education as well as roads, bridges and rail, and I am expecting to receive this work in coming months.
Mr O'Byrne failed to deliver anything like this when in Government.
As Minister, Mr O'Byrne released an "Economic Development Plan" – and months later Tasmania slumped into recession.
He failed to deliver a plan to replace the Bridgewater Bridge, despite Labor receiving funding from John Howard for it, which they wasted.
The funding is now locked in from both Federal and State Liberal Governments for the $576 million to replace the Bridge. This is something Labor couldn't achieve in 16 years of Government.
And despite two years of talk and a million dollars, Mr O'Byrne failed to deliver a promised freight plan.
It has taken a Liberal Government to deliver long-term infrastructure planning for Tasmania, where Labor failed, through our 10 Year Infrastructure Project Pipeline and the ongoing work Infrastructure Tasmania is doing on a longer-term 30 year Strategy.
