Moree armed robbery charge, NSW

Police have charged a man following an armed robbery in Moree last night, NSW Police say.

Police have been told about 9.50pm today, a man entered a supermarket in a shopping centre on Balo Street, Moree.

It is alleged the man then threatened a 23-year-old shop attendant with a sharp implement and demanded money.

The man then allegedly took packets of tobacco and left the scene on foot.

Officers from Barwon Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

A short time later, officers located a 35-year-old man on Iris Street, Moree.

The man was arrested and taken to Moree Police Station.

He has been charged with armed robbery.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in Inverell Local Court tomorrow.
