A Morwell couple have swapped their usual morning alarm for a life-changing phone call that revealed they'd won a Set for Life division one prize worth $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.
The Gippsland residents held the only division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 3870, drawn Wednesday 11 March 2026. They pocketed a division one prize of $4.8 million, paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.
When we called with the incredible news, the winning couple were fast asleep which quickly turned a quiet morning into an unforgettable one.
"Thank you very much!" the winning husband exclaimed.
"I don't mind being woken up with good news. What a shock.
"That's just beautiful. We'll have to sit down and come to terms with it because my head's spinning right now.
"We've been playing Set for Life since it started and we always use these same numbers.
"You could say we're in a bit of shock right now, that's for sure."
When asked what $20,000 a month for the next two decades means for them, the pair couldn't help but laugh admitting the reality of the win had left them dumbfounded.
"Gosh, what does it do for us? You always think of all these things you would do if you won but when it comes to it, your mind goes blank!" the winning wife laughed.
"We don't have much on for the rest of the day, so we'll just let it sink in and have a good think about everything. We've had some tough times as of recent, so this is some really amazing news.
"We've never been so lucky in our life! Thank you!"
Their winning marked 4-game entry was purchased on The Lott website - the official home of Australia's lotteries.
