Motor bike detected traveling at 173km/h

A 35 year old man was detected speeding at 173km/h on Birralee Rd Birralee this afternoon.

The man was part of a group riding motorcycles south. He was intercepted where his motor cycle was seized for 28 days. He will also be receiving a summons to attend court.

The rider is facing a maximum fine of $3360 and a minimum 4 months licence disqualification. He is also responsible for all towing and storage fees.

Enquiries are continuing in relation to another member of the group who was traveling at 143km/h.

Police wish to remind road users that it is their responsibility to ride and drive safely. Traveling at excessive speed gives drivers and riders insufficient time to adapt and react to changing conditions and situations. This can have serious or fatal consequences for those involved.

Incidents such as this puts motorcyclists at significant risk.
