Motorcyclist caught almost 100km/h over speed limit - Riverina

A man has had his license suspended after he was allegedly caught speeding in the state's Riverina region yesterday.

Just before 5pm (Wednesday 28 July 2021), an off-duty police officer was travelling along Plumpton Road, Lake Albert, near Wagga Wagga, when he was overtaken by a Yamaha motorcycle at high speed.

The off-duty senior constable followed the rider to a nearby street, where he spoke with a 30-year-old man and identified himself as a police officer.

It will be alleged the rider was travelling at an estimated speed of 170km/h in a sign posted 80km/h zone.

The rider was issued with a penalty notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, which comes with a $2547 fine. His driver's license was suspended for six months, and his motorcycle registration plate was confiscated for three months.
