Motorcyclist charged with drink driving in Gateshead

A motorcyclist, travelling through the state’s Lake Macquarie region, will face court later this month after being detected with alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.17, NSW Police say8

Around 11.55pm today, police from Newcastle Police Rescue Squad stopped a Harley Davidson motorcycle travelling south on the Pacific Highway at Gateshead.

It will be alleged that the motorcycle came to police attention due to the manner in which it was being ridden.

The rider, a 53-year-old man from Cheltenham in South Australia, was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station where a subsequent breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.178.

The 53-year-old’s South Australian rider's license was suspended and he was issued court attendance notices for High Range PCA and riding an unregistered and uninsured motor cycle.

The Cheltenham resident will appear at Belmont Court on the 30 November 2016.
