Motorcyclist dies after crash, NSW

Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner following the death of a motorcyclist in the Blue Mountains this morning, NSW Police say.

The accident happened about 10am today on Chifley Road west of Darling Causeway (at the intersection with Bells Line of Road) at Bell, when the motorcycle left the road and hit a tree.

The male rider sustained multiple injuries and died at the scene.

A crime scene has been established and is being examined by officers from Blue Mountains Local Area Command.

The rider is believed to be a man in his 50s from Sydney; formal identification is pending.

Motorists are advised to use the Great Western Highway as an alternative route and allow additional travel time.
