Motorist arrested for drug trafficking, SA

A routine traffic stop overnight at Renown Park has led to the arrest of a man on drug trafficking charges, according to SA Police.

Just before 2.30am this morning a police patrol stopped a man driving a car at Renown Park for a routine licence check, after police checks revealed the man's licence was disqualified.

While speaking to the driver, the patrol noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle.

A search of the car revealed a cannabis pipe and large bag of cannabis, plus an assortment of other drugs including about 5 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of cocaine, 21 ecstasy tablets and nearly $2,000 cash.

The 27-year-old man from Seaford Rise was arrested and charged with driving disqualified, and trafficking controlled drugs.

His car was impounded and his was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
