Mountain River Intersection Consultation Starting Soon

Tasmanian Government

From Monday 26 May, the Huon Valley community will be able to provide feedback on design options for an important intersection on the Huon Highway being upgraded by the Tasmanian Government.

Minister for Infrastructure, Kerry Vincent, said upgrades to the Huon Highway and Mountain River Road intersection will improve safety and access for users.

"The Tasmanian Government has committed $3 million and is taking action to specifically address concerns for pedestrian and bus stop safety at the intersection," Minister Vincent said.

"Project designs have been prioritised to get the intersection upgrade progressed as soon as possible.

"From Monday, 26 May, members of the public will have the chance to provide their feedback on the designs and I encourage them to provide their input on each option.

"This feedback will help us to understand the community's preferences and will inform the preferred final design for the intersection."

Minister Vincent said the Government is building safer and more efficient roads all around Tasmania as part of the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future.

Members of the public will be able to view and provide feedback on the designs and ask questions in-person on:

Designs will also be available online via the Transport website at https://www.transport.tas.gov.au/roadworks/huon-mountain-river-project from Monday 26 May.
