Parramatta Artists' Studios (PAS) will hold its fifth Movers and Makers open day, an annual industry day for artists and art lovers, on Saturday 25 May.
Running from 10am to 6pm, the event enables practising and aspiring artists to get tips and advice from industry professionals on how they can build successful careers.
"Parramatta Artists' Studios has become renowned as a centre that nurtures and supports artists and artistic communities, which in turn helps to strengthen the cultural fabric of our vibrant City," City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Andrew Wilson said.
"The Movers and Makers open day connects members of the art community and presents potential pathways for practising artists to secure professional opportunities."
The day starts with a ticketed breakfast event in a laneway next to the Studios, which will be transformed by PAS resident artist Justine Youssef. The breakfast will bring together around 25 people for a shared meal and conversation.
The full-day program includes panel discussions featuring industry professionals such as Rhianna Walcott of Artereal Gallery; Kate Britton of Art Month Sydney; and Abdul Abdullah, artist and ABC television's The Mix commentator.
In addition, artists will be able to meet key curatorial staff from leading arts organisations including Artbank and Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre through the industry program One Plus One.
Attendees are also welcome to tour the 14 studios, meet the 2019 PAS artists and see their works in progress as part of the open day program.
Newly commissioned art installations by PAS resident artists Kalanjay Dhir, Del Lumanta and Emma Fielden will be on exhibition for one day only as part of Movers and Makers.

Parramatta Artists' Studios is located on levels 1 and 2, 68 Macquarie Street, Parramatta. Anyone who is interested in attending Movers and Makers can pre-register or simply drop in between 10am and 6pm.
