Multi-agency search continues for missing man - Northern NSW

A search continues this morning for a man who went missing in a river in Northern NSW overnight.

Officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District were called to Kangaroo Creek Road at Kangaroo Creek – 35km south of Grafton – about 10.20pm (Sunday 15 May 2022), following reports a 4WD had crashed.

Police arrived to find a white Toyota Landcruiser had left the roadway, slid down a steep embankment, and stopped on the banks of a river.

The officers weren't able to reach the 4WD; however, briefly sighted a man near the vehicle before he entered the river.

The man – who is believed to be aged in his 20s – has not been seen since.

A search of the river and surrounding area commenced immediately, involving local police, officers from Police Rescue from Lismore, and members of the SES.

The multi-agency search will continue today (Monday 16 May 2022), and will also include police divers, the Dog Unit, and PolAir.
