Multiple charges including wilful damage, assault of police, Mareeba Cemetery

Police have charged a man with multiple offences following an incident that occurred within a cemetery in Mareeba earlier this evening., Queensland Police say

It will be alleged at around 7:45pm, a 45-year-old man has driven his dual cab ute into the old Mareeba Cemetery where he collided with a number of grave stones causing damaging to three grave sites including headstones and decorative fencing.

It will be further alleged police located the man in the driver seat with the ute unable to move out of a grave site.

A 45-year-old Mareeba man has been charged with one count of wilful damage, one count of driving under the influence of liquor and one count of obstruct police while affected by an intoxicating substance.

He is due to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on December 11.
