Multiple offences – Gold Coast

A 19-year-old man is in police custody following a burglary and theft of two cars from a house at Biggera Waters in the early hours of this morning.

Around 1.45am it is alleged a male person entered a South Quay Drive address and made demands, whilst in possession of a knife, resulting in the theft of two vehicles from the address. No one was physically injured during this incident.

Shortly after 2am police received information about one of the stolen vehicles, a 2018 black Ford Mondeo being seen near Oxley Drive at Biggera Waters.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle which failed to stop.

The vehicle, which had flames coming from underneath, continued to drive before crashing into a fence at a Keebra Park address.

A police officer who attempted to extinguish the blaze, suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to hospital for treatment.

A man was detained by police at the scene and is assisting with inquiries.

Police are continuing to search for other people involved, along with another stolen vehicle, a black 2003 Mazda 3 with Queensland registration 779 JVX.
