Murder charge follows domestic-violence assault in Albury

A man is due to appear in Albury Local Court today charged over the alleged murder of his partner, NSW Police say.

Police have been told paramedics were called to the home in Olive Street, Albury, about 7.45am on Monday 30 April 2018, responding to reports a woman had sustained severe facial injuries.

Officers from Murray River Police District were called to the scene and began inquiries.

The 46-year-old woman was taken to Albury Base Hospital in a critical condition, where she later died.

Police arrested a 43-year-old man about midday of the same day in Lambert Park, Albury, and took him to Albury Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court on Tuesday 1 May 2018, where he was once remanded in custody.

Detectives attached to Strike Force Merriwee have now charged that man with murder.

He is due to appear in Albury Local Court today (Monday 7 May 2018).
