Murder charge laid over shooting death of Omar Elomar

A teenager will face court today charged with murder over his alleged role in the shooting death of another teenager in Sydney's south-west.

Just after 11pm on Saturday 15 February 2020, emergency services were called to Cabramatta Avenue, Miller, following reports that a teenager had been shot.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the 18-year-old man died at the scene. He has since been formally identified as Omar Elomar.

Following initial inquiries by officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command, detectives from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Cero.

Last week, strike force detectives charged an 18-year-old man, who remains before the courts.

Following further inquiries, the 18-year-old man was arrested at Surry Hills Police Station just after 7.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 25 February 2020).

He was charged with murder and refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Wednesday 26 February 2020).

Investigations under Strike Force Cero are continuing.
