Murder charges laid over domestic-related double homicide at Oberon

A man has been charged with two counts of murder following investigations into the death of a man and woman at Oberon last week.

About 7.15am on Friday 13 August 2021, emergency services were called to a home on On Avon Avenue, following information received about concerns for the welfare of the occupants.

Officers from Chifley Police District attended and found the bodies of a 68-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths commenced.

Following inquiries, officers from Nepean Police Area Command and Nepean Highway Patrol arrested a 46-year-old man on Jack William Drive, Penrith, about 8.50am the same day.

The man, who is known to the couple, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for hand injuries before being taken to Nepean Hospital under police guard.

He was released yesterday (Sunday 15 August 2021) and taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with two counts of murder (DV).

The man was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Monday 16 August 2021).
