Music festival drug charges in Sydney's east

The Sydney City Limits Music Festival was held at Centennial Park from 11am to 10pm yesterday (Saturday 24 February 2018) and attracted about 14,000 people, NSW Police say.

Eastern Beaches Police Area Command were in attendance, running a coordinated drug detection operation with the assistance of the Police Dog Unit, and local licensing police.

Sixty-two people were charged with possess prohibited drug after illicit drugs were located.

Two people were charged with assault police, three were issued infringement notices for fail to quit, and one person was issued an infringement notice for offensive language.

One person was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital suffering a suspected overdose.

The crowd were generally well behaved and complied with police directions when required; however, police remain concerned that people continue to risk their health and a criminal record by taking illicit drugs to events like this one, and will continue to conduct similar operations at future events.
