Free live music will return to the CBD tomorrow when Townsville City Council presents Music in the City for the first time this year.
Solo artist Tony Wood will perform at the Perfume Gardens at the corner of Stokes and Walker Streets from midday to 2pm.
Community and Cultural Development Committee Chair Cr Colleen Doyle said this year's program will showcase 13 performers.
"Music in the City is back for 2019 and we'll have artists performing at the Perfume Gardens at lunch time every Friday in May, June and July," Cr Doyle said.
"Our first performer is Tony Wood who is a local musician who performs across the city with his acoustic guitar.
"He's influenced by Ed Sheeran, John Mayer and Jason Mraz."
Local Councillor Ann-Maree Greaney said the lunch time performances will be great for inner city workers.
"These laid-back concerts give people a fantastic way to get away from the office during their lunch break," Cr Greaney.
"We're encouraging people to support local businesses and buy their lunch or a coffee and head to the Perfume Gardens to enjoy the music."
Cr Doyle said people in the audience will have a chance to win weekly prizes.
"We've had great prizes at Music in the City in the past and that will continue in 2019," Cr Doyle said.
"We'll be offering North Queensland Cowboys passes and merchandise - this week we will give away a double-pass to the Cowboys game against Parramatta on 18 May."
