Myanmar sets up committee for reformation of Myanmar Peace Center

Myanmar formed a 10-member committee to work on reformation of Myanmar Peace Center (MPC) as National Reconciliation and Peace Center (NRPC), according to an announcement of the President's Office Tuesday.

The committee is chaired by U Kyaw Tint Swe, minister of the Office of State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, and its vice chairman is Lt-Gen Ye Aung, minister of the Border Affairs.

The committee members include Dr. Tin Myo Win, who is Suu Kyi's personal doctor as Peace Negotiator.

In accordance with the directive of Suu Kyi, the committee is set to form the NRPC which is to be based in Nay Pyi Taw and the former MPC in Yangon will play as a branch of the NRPC.

The committee is tasked to ensure NRPC to undertake the coordination process for getting foreign aid and utilization of state budget and donors' fund for the cause of the national reconciliation and peace.

The committee is also tasked to submit proposals to the state counselor to include those deemed as necessary and NRPC is to run as an institution by regularly holding meetings and adopting decisions. (Xinhua)
