National Educator Register Testing Begins

Dept of Education, Skills and Employment

The Register is scheduled for a national rollout in February 2026 and is being delivered in stages. The initial foundational release will provide regulators with enhanced visibility of the workforce -offering clear insights into who is working in the sector and where. This marks a significant step toward strengthening transparency and supporting quality outcomes in early childhood education and care.

The Register will capture early childhood workers' identifying information, including:

  • employment records
  • approved training completed
  • relevant qualifications
  • current Working With Children or Vulnerable People identifying number (or state equivalent) and expiry
  • teacher registration (where applicable).

It will be mandatory for all services under the National Quality Framework, designed to support regulators in their roles to monitor, identify and respond to risk with respect to persons working in children's education and care.

The Register is just one of a suite of reforms and initiatives that all nine governments are progressing to ensure children's education and services are even safer and more supportive so children can thrive.
