The national level event pits the country's top teams against each other for a three day competition at Shepparton's Sports City Precinct with 13 teams from division one playing off from Friday 7 October and 32 teams from division two the following weekend from Friday 14 October.

The tournament is expected to see more than 900 competitors and their support networks stay in Shepparton for the combined three day events.

Hosting some of the best Frisbee players in Australia is an exciting new experience for the community said Mayor of Greater Shepparton, Shane Sali.

"We are very excited to welcome Australia's top Ultimate Frisbee athletes to Greater Shepparton, the capital of all sporting events," Cr Sali said.

"The mixed championships will see the very best male and female competitors using their strength and agility to sprint, leap and throw their way to victory, a lot more thrilling than your average backyard or park game.

"Ultimate Frisbee is a growing sport and we are proud to host them and invite them to experience all that Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley have to offer and having these athletes stay in our city for not only one but two, three day competitions greatly benefits our visitor economy industries and has positive flow on effects for all local businesses as they sleep, eat, explore and play in the region."

This will be a first for Greater Shepparton, hosting the 23rd Annual Australian Mixed Ultimate Championships, which will be the event's first return since 2019 after being on hold due to COVID-19 interruptions.

National Events Manager for Ultimate Frisbee Australia said they were extremely excited to be hosting the event at Shepparton Sports City.

"These events will attract more than 600 athletes and staff to the local area and we are grateful for the support from Greater Shepparton City Council to assist us in hosting these major tournaments," Anna Haynes said.

The Mixed Ultimate Championships will be held at Shepparton's Sports City Precinct and free for all spectators to attend.
