Rear Adm. Keith Davids, commander of Naval Special Warfare Command, relieved Capt. Richard A. Zaszewski as commodore of Naval Special Warfare Group Eight on Mar. 20, 2024, due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command.

Deputy commodore Capt. Stig Sanness has assumed duties as commodore. There is no impact to NSWG-8's mission readiness.
