New Auditor-General of Tasmania appointed

The Rockliff Liberal Government is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Martin Thompson as the new Auditor-General of Tasmania, effective 1 May 2024, for 10 years.

Treasurer, Michael Ferguson, said with over 30 years of extensive experience in the provision of audit and assurance services, Mr Thompson is a highly qualified professional who has served in senior roles with distinguished organisations such as the Australian National Audit Office and the Victorian Auditor-General's Office.

"In his previous role as the lead Partner for Crowe's Southern Audit team, Mr Thompson successfully oversaw all audit operations across Victoria and Tasmania and is a key member of the national audit leadership team," Mr Ferguson said.

"I am delighted to welcome Mr Thompson as our new Auditor-General. His skills and experience are of the highest standard and I am confident that he will serve the Tasmanian exceptionally well.

"I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to the outgoing Auditor-General, Mr Rod Whitehead, for his dedicated service over the past 8 years. We express our gratitude to Mr Whitehead for his valuable work and wish him well in his future endeavours."
