Jodie and Steve Prigg have been appointed as the new management for the popular Miles community fitness centre as Sonia Stenhouse hands over the reins.
The transition of management marks an exciting new chapter for the Murilla Fitness Centre with Mrs and Mr Prigg to commence from Sunday 1 November 2026.
Council spokesperson for Council Facilities Councillor Sophie Bougoure said Council is pleased to introduce Jodie and Steve as the new management who will bring an abundance of knowledge and experience to the centre.
"Jodie and Steve have previously managed our Murilla Fitness Centre and are best known for their outstanding work and commitment to health and fitness at Revolution Fitness Miles," Cr Bougoure said.
"Murilla Fitness Centre plays an important role in supporting the wellbeing of our community, and we are confident the new management team will continue to build on the strong foundations established over the past 10 years of previous management.
"The Murilla Community is extremely lucky to have Jodie and Steve as the new management team, and we look forward to working closely with them to continue delivering a high-quality fitness and recreation service for Miles and the wider community."
Local Western Downs residents Jodie and Steve Prigg bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to build on the strong foundations established over the past decade.
"Both Steve and I are incredibly excited to be returning to the Murilla Fitness Centre, to us, this is about much more than just running a gym." Mrs Prigg said.
"We want to create a welcoming place where people of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels feel comfortable walking through the door.
"Whether someone is an experienced gym member, a senior wanting to stay strong and independent, a mum returning to exercise, a teenager finding their confidence, or someone stepping into a gym for the very first time, we want them to know there is a place for them here.
"There is something really special about coming back to a facility that was such an important part of our lives and having the opportunity to build on that history with everything we have learned over the years.
"We want people to come for the exercise but stay because of the people, our vision is for the Murilla Fitness Centre to become a genuine hub for health and fitness – somewhere people can train, make friends, support each other and feel part of a community."
The management transition at Murilla Fitness Centre will be effective Sunday 1 November 2026.
