The critical communications network in Campbelltown has been boosted with a new government radio network site.
Managing Director of NSW Telco Authority, Kylie De Courteney said the new site was critical to community safety.
"The NSW Government is expanding the footprint of our state's critical communications network. This ensures that public safety agencies have a more reliable network to help keep people and places safe," Ms De Courteney said.
"Law enforcement, emergency response organisations and essential services in Campbelltown will now be able to use a single, integrated radio network to coordinate responses during critical incidents."
The $900,000 upgrade works are part of an investment of $320 million over the next four years to expand the government radio network from 190 sites to approximately 700 sites. This will boost coverage from 35 per cent of NSW to over 80 per cent.
"The network's expansion represents the biggest investment in critical communications infrastructure by the NSW Government in two decades," Ms De Courteney said.
