New data reveals cost of Gutwein's broken promise

Tasmanian Labor

The Gutwein Government has allowed petrol prices to soar and its promise of intervention remains broken.

We have the highest fuel prices in the country and it is damaging our economy.

The latest data from the ACCC proves that petrol prices in Hobart are much higher than any other capital city in Australia. Peter Gutwein and Elise Archer have been promising for 18 months that they would take action if Tasmanian prices remained out of step with other states.

At the start of the December quarter the average fuel price in the five largest Australian cities was 162.8 cents per litre, whereas Hobart was 12.2 cents higher at 175. Hobart was nearly 20 cents higher than Adelaide.

Fuel prices have only skyrocketed since this time.

It is time for this government to take the action they said they would and do something about these petrol prices.

Tasmanians are hurting. Businesses are hurting. The Premier needs to act on his promise to ease the burden that Tasmanians are now shouldering.

If the Premier is unable do anything about petrol prices then why does he keep promising to intervene? Why is he misleading the Tasmanian people?
