The Palaszczuk Government’s commitment to growing the economy helped deliver 7,100 new jobs in August, including 6,200 new full-time jobs.
Acting Treasurer Kate Jones said that today’s ABS Labour Force data showed more people in Queensland were finding full-time work.
"Today’s data shows that in the past month we have created another 7,100 jobs across Queensland," Ms Jones said.
"This is the strongest rate of jobs growth in the country this month.
"The number one priority of the Palaszczuk Government is delivering jobs which is clear when you think about the 177,500 new Queensland jobs that have been created since January 2015.
"This is the 23rd straight month of trend jobs growth with thousands more people finding work this month alone.
"It’s also very encouraging to see a significant rise in full-time jobs. We know that having a secure, reliable job is important not just to the health of our economy but also to the wellbeing of working people.
"While the trend unemployment rate has risen by 0.1% to 6.3%, this can largely be attributed to a 0.4% rise in participation over the last year.
"We now have the second highest participation rate in the country with more people entering the labour market because they can see more opportunities.
"Across our economy we know businesses are feeling more confident to take people on and we are seeing that reflected in these results.
"NAB’s Monthly Business Survey, released this week, shows trend business conditions in Queensland to be the highest of the mainland states and trend business confidence second-highest."
