New Director appointed for Tasmania Legal Aid

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Elise Archer has announced the appointment of Kristen Wylie as the Director of Tasmania Legal Aid.

"Ms Wylie has worked with Tasmania Legal Aid since 2011, including as Acting Director since October 2022, and brings extensive experience and leadership to this important role," the Attorney-General said.

"She was awarded the Tasmanian Women Lawyers Achievement Award in 2022 in recognition of her significant professional contribution and achievements, and was also the joint recipient of the Law Society of Tasmania's President's Award in 2023.

"Her extensive experience and legal knowledge will serve her well, and I am confident she will capably lead the organisation's future strategic direction.

"Congratulations to Ms Wylie and I look forward to working with her into the future in delivering this important service for vulnerable Tasmanians."

The position of Director became vacant following the resignation of the previous occupant, Vincenzo Caltabiano, who was appointed as a Magistrate in Victoria in October 2022.
