New doors for Pilbeam Theatre

Theatre goers heading to the long awaited Mamma Mia performances this week will be walking through brand new doors, thanks to a project from Rockhampton Regional Council.

Communities Councillor Drew Wickerson said the doors were a great improvement.

"Obviously we had to close the theatre for quite a while due to the COVID-19 pandemic which was really tough.

"One small advantage was being able to get work like this done without putting out patrons.

"The new doors are at our main foyer and they open automatically, making the building more accessible and COVID safe – no more brass handles to touch!

"It'll be much easier to get in and out with a wheelchair now too.

"They also meet the very latest in fire safety and evacuation standards.

"We are looking forward to welcoming thousands of people through our brand new doors for Mamma Mia this week and next."
