New EV Charger Proposed For Weatherall Road

We're planning to install an electric vehicle (EV) charging station at 152 Weatherall Road, Cheltenham, in partnership with JOLT. The charger will offer 7kWh of free charging every 24 hours, is powered by 100% green energy, and comes at no cost to Council.

We've already installed three JOLT chargers across Bayside, in Black Rock, Beaumaris and Highett, with over 4,000 local charging sessions delivered in the past nine months.

The proposed location for this new EV charger is near the intersection of Weatherall Road and Parkside Street. One existing parking bay would be converted to EV-only use with time restrictions. The charger includes a digital advertising screen.

Installing EV chargers in shopping precincts supports our local economy, as EV drivers charge while they shop or visit local facilities such as parks and ovals. We've also got big plans to upgrade the nearby playground.

This proposal is open for community feedback until 14 September 2025. If supported, installation will begin later this year and take around two weeks.
