New footpath from Bridge in Bass

A new footpath is being constructed along Hade Avenue in Bass, linking the Bass Bridge, to the memorial area, cenotaph and carpark.

Work is underway on the project, which is expected to be completed prior to ANZAC Day (25 April).

This $50,000 project is fully funded by Bass Coast Shire Council as part of its 2020/21 Capital Works Program.

These works will give the community a safe pedestrian connection to existing footpath network and provide connection to the existing memorial shelter and nearby off-street parking adjacent to the Bass Hotel on Hade Avenue.

The project will include the construction of a concrete path from the bridge to the memorial area, as well as a gravel pathway from the memorial area to the carpark, opposite the Bass Hotel. To link to the existing bridge footpath, improvements such as a retaining wall and a timber handrail extension to match the bridge will be installed. The project will also include some minor kerb and channel extension works.

Appropriate traffic/pedestrian measures will be in place throughout the duration of the works, which might cause some minor traffic delays. Council appreciates that these works may present an inconvenience to nearby properties and business owners and asks for patience during these times. The contractor will make every effort to minimise disruptions during construction.
