The Victorian Government is building the capability and capacity to collect, store and reprocess e-waste with a new round of Sustainability Victoria's (SV's) E-waste Infrastructure Grants.
Up to $2 million will be available in the latest round of funding. This fund will increase Victoria's ability to manage e-waste and continue to expand public access to e-waste disposal points.
The Victorian Government implemented the e-waste to landfill ban 1 July 2019. The ban aims to reduce the harm e-waste in landfill poses to human health and the environment as well as recovering more precious materials. E-waste is defined as any item with a plug, battery or cord that is no longer working or wanted.
The ban means e-waste items are prohibited from being placed in household bins and instead must be taken to an e-waste drop-off point.

The latest round of funding is a part of the State Government's $16.5 million investment to strengthen the e-waste sector and raise public awareness about how to dispose of e-waste correctly.
