New funds available to support city events

The City of Adelaide is pleased to announce its Event Infrastructure Incentives Scheme is now open to support city businesses and events.

Council approved the implementation of an event infrastructure funding scheme of up to $50,000 through the current 2020-21 budget allocation for City Activation in December.

The scheme forms part of a City Business Stimulus Program aimed at providing support for businesses impacted by COVID-19 - including the significantly impacted events industry.

Event organisers are encouraged to apply for the scheme, which will be processed through the new online Smarty Grants program.

The information is also available online and promoted through social media.

Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor said the scheme will offer funding for up to 50 per cent of event infrastructure costs to a maximum of $10,000 for events being held from 20 February to 30 June 2021 and hosting over 1,000 people.

"This infrastructure incentive scheme will support events in the city and North Adelaide to continue to thrive and deliver extraordinary experiences this season," said the Lord Mayor.

"The City of Adelaide continues to create incentives and funding opportunities to boost local creative industries who in turn attract visitors to explore and delight in the City's cultural offerings."

The funding is for the hire or purchase of necessary event infrastructure, which could include toilets, additional fencing, site signage (not advertising material), lighting, generators or staging.

The scheme will, through the assessment process, also consider positively those events booked in under-utilised sites; demonstrate social, cultural and economic value to the city; and are engaging with multicultural and diverse communities.

This scheme will also favourably consider events who are hiring or purchasing infrastructure from South Australian businesses.

The delivery of this scheme will contribute to the City of Adelaide's vision to be the world's most liveable city, with a dynamic city culture that celebrates diverse community, culture and creativity.

The Event Infrastructure Incentives Scheme will close on Sunday 7 February.
