New Look Playspace And Community Hub For City Of Hume

VIC Premier

The Andrews Labor Government has delivered a new playspace in Hume and announced a major investment in a new community hub in Broadmeadows through its landmark Growing Suburbs Fund.

Minister for Local Government Shaun Leane and Member for Broadmeadows Frank McGuire today officially opened the playground upgrade at Kirwan Park, near Greenvale Reservoir in the south of the fast-growing Hume community.

The project received $117,500 from the 2020-21 round of the Growing Suburbs Fund, which supports projects that support better services, connections and opportunities for the local community.

The new playspace features new modern, sustainable, and locally made playground equipment, including swings, a cubby house and rock steppers. The area surrounding the playground has also been updated with new seating, picnic tables, garden beds and trees to provide natural shade on hot days.

The project will be delivered by the Hume City Council, which has contributed $117,500 towards the works.

The Labor Government also announced Hume City Council will receive $1.5 million to develop a community hub at the new Rugby League Centre of Excellence at Seabrook Reserve in Broadmeadows.

The construction of a community hub at Seabrook Reserve will provide much needed community space for residents of Broadmeadows.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Growing Suburbs Fund has facilitated $913.2 million in local infrastructure, created more than 8,880 jobs and supported 253 projects across Melbourne's fastest-growing areas.
