New Luxury Escapes headquarters arrives in Melbourne

Victorian online travel leader Lux Group has officially opened its new global headquarters and a global travel hub in Southbank.

The building located in Market Lane will help create 90 new full-time equivalent positions over the next three years, with the company having already added 40 jobs in 2020 despite challenging conditions in the tourism sector due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Lux Group received support from the Victorian Government to set up the new headquarters and travel hub in Melbourne through the Victorian Jobs and Investment Fund.

Lux Group is a high-tech e-commerce business operating several travel platforms, most notably the online booking site Luxury Escapes.

With Victoria's visitor economy beginning the road to recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, services like Luxury Escapes will be vital in attracting more visitors to make accommodation bookings across Victorian locations, boosting business for local restaurants and small businesses and helping showcase all that Victoria has to offer.

Lux Group has been impacted by the pandemic with reduced sales of international trips, however domestic trip bookings have increased as state borders reopen along with intrastate travel which has grown significantly.

The company began developing plans to consolidate its online travel services and centralise its business into one location through the establishment of the new headquarters and travel hub with Melbourne chosen as the ideal location.

The support from the Victorian Government proved vital, helping prevent the global travel hub moving interstate.

The move will help a local Australian organisation strengthen its online travel market position and reinforce its competitiveness in the e-commerce travel sector, better targeting domestic travel destinations across the state.
