Newest clinic opens in boost to vaccine rollout

Residents on the Fleurieu Peninsula have greater access to the lifesaving COVID-19 vaccine as the latest South Australian mass vaccination clinic opens at Victor Harbor today.

Minister for Health and Wellbeing Stephen Wade said the Victor Harbor clinic was the first of three mass clinics to open this month.

"The COVID-19 vaccination program is our doorway out of the pandemic, and the Marshall Liberal Government is working hard to give every South Australian access to the vital vaccine so we can continue to keep our state safe and strong," said Minister Wade.

"This clinic will provide up to 700 vaccinations per week - 500 Pfizer and 200 AstraZeneca - providing more opportunities for eligible South Australians to roll up their sleeve and get vaccinated.

"Of course in regional areas, South Australia recently opened up eligibility for the vaccine to anybody aged 16 years and over. These appointments will add much needed capacity and support access for people on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

"Later this month we will also be adding two more vaccination clinics, with a clinic at Mount Barker set to open on Monday 12 July and in Gawler before the end of July.

"The Marshall Liberal Government invested $86 million in last month's State Budget to support the fast-tracking of the vaccine roll out and this investment is ensuring that SA Health has the resources it needs to get this vaccine into the arms of more South Australians.

"We are making great progress towards vaccinating our population and I encourage all South Australians to roll up their sleeve when it is their turn."

The Victor Harbor Clinic is located at 2 George Main Road, Victor Harbor (Christian Gospel Centre building) and will replace the smaller clinic at Southern Fleurieu Health Service.

The clinic will operate seven days a week, offering Pfizer vaccinations for those aged 16 to 59 from Saturday to Wednesday and AstraZeneca for those 60 and above on Thursdays and Fridays.

Appointments are open at both the Victor Harbor and Mount Barker clinics.

Bookings are essential and can be made through the SA Health Website.
