No hands, no bike, no idea

A teenage rider will spend the next 30 days without his new motorcycle after being caught riding at 88km/h over the speed limit in North Geelong earlier today, Victoria Police say.

Police from the State Highway Patrol intercepted the 19-year-old North Geelong man riding on Duro Street just before 10.45am.

He has been seen to travel at 148km/h in the 60km/h zone.

Police also spotted him riding at this speed without his hands on the handle bars.

The rider had only had his probationary licence for six months and had only owned his motorcycle for a month.

The bike was subsequently impounded at a cost of $994.

The rider will be charged on summons with a range of traffic offences.
