
If you know an individual, business or group who have made an exceptional contribution to community life - it's time to nominate them for the prestigious Byron Shire Community Awards 2026.
Nominations are now open on Council's website and you have until Sunday, 31 May to get your submission in.
"We have so many good people in the Byron Shire who deserve to be recognised for all of the good they do in the community," Byron Shire Mayor, Sarah Ndiaye said.
"If someone comes to mind, I encourage you to nominate them today by going to Council's website.
"With so much going on in the world, we are lucky to call this beautiful place home, and have this opportunity to celebrate the people who contribute in a positive way and make it such a joy to be here. Let's give them the recognition they deserve," she said.
The eight categories open for nominations are:
- Community Member of the Year
- Young Community Member of the Year
- Access and Inclusion Award
- Caring for Country Award
- Creativity Award
- Contributions to Health and Wellbeing Award
- In Business for Good
- Community Initiative of the Year.
The Byron Shire Community Awards will be held on Tuesday, 4 August - to align with Local Government Week.
