Nominations for Community Representatives

Community representation on Council's various committees and working parties is renewed every 2 years and we are now seeking nominations from interested members of the community who can meet the criteria of the Committee or Working Party.

Shellharbour Aboriginal Advisory Committee

The purpose of this committee is to provide advice on issues effecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people.

Calling for a total of 10 Community Representatives (including one Male and one Female elder)

Criteria - Community Representatives on the Aboriginal Advisory Committee must be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander residents who live in the Shellharbour local government area.

Flood Risk Management Committee

The purpose of this committee is to represent the interests of people living in the Shellharbour Local Government Area who are affected by flooding and stormwater overland flows.

Calling for a maximum of five Community Representatives

Criteria - Community Representatives of the Flood Risk Management Committee would have lived in the Shellharbour Local Government Area for a reasonable amount of time, have experienced flooding to their land or dwelling and are able to attend meetings and site visits as required.

Coastal Management Working Party

The purpose of this working party is to provide feedback and support to council on Shellharbour Coastal Zone Management Plan, Coastal Management Programs as well as any Estuary Management Plan excluding the Lake Illawarra Coastal Management Plan.

Calling for three Community Representatives

Criteria - Community Representatives of the Coastal Management Working Party should demonstrate an interest in and knowledge of coastal issues in the Shellharbour local government area, be involved in the local community and reside in the Shellharbour local government area.

Aquatics Facilities Working Party

The purpose of this working party is to provide a forum of collaboration in relation to the provision and operation of aquatic facilities in the Shellharbour Local Government Area.

Calling for two Community Representatives

Criteria - Community Representatives of the Aquatics Facilities Working Party should demonstrate an interest in and knowledge of aquatic facilities in the Shellharbour local government area, be involved in the local community and reside in the Shellharbour local government area.

Shellharbour Airport Operations Working Party

The purpose of this working party is to advise on airport operational issues.

Calling for two Community Representatives

Criteria - Community Representatives give residents a voice at Working Party meetings and provides an opportunity for community questions to be raised and addressed in relation to Shellharbour Airport.

As a community representative, you will advocate and give a voice to people within the community by providing input and advice to the relevant Shellharbour City Council Committee and Working Parties.

Community Representatives term of appointment is up until September 2021 with meetings held as and when required. These are voluntary unpaid positions and will be appointed by Council.
