The State Government are calling for nominations for the 2026 Australian of the Year Awards.
These annual awards celebrate the incredible achievements and contributions of extraordinary Australians.
Since they started in 1960, the Australian of the Year Awards have been a key part of Australia Day celebrations, recognising outstanding achievements across the nation.
Do you know someone in the community who inspires you? Now is the time to recognise their passion and hard work by nominating them for an Australian of the Year Award.
Nominations are open to all and could include a family member, friend, colleague or neighbour who inspires others, advocates for positive change, or contributes tirelessly to their communities.
An Australian of the Year Award could help elevate their voice, help them access more support for their cause and provide them with the recognition they deserve.
Nominations are open now for the following categories:
• Australian of the Year
• Senior Australian of the Year
• Young Australian of the Year
• Australia's Local Hero
Nominations for the 2026 Australian of the Year Awards are open now and close at midnight (AEST) on 31 July 2025.
