At 9.40am on Monday 23 January 2017, police in Devonport were notified of the death of a man on board Spirit of Tasmania I, which had recently docked in the Mersey River.
Tasmania Police are investigating the death, but do not consider it to be suspicious. The family of the deceased have been informed. The deceased was an employee of a contractor of TT Line.
As a result of this incident, the day sailing to Melbourne was delayed approximately two hours, Tasmania Police say.
