NORCO FARMERS TO BENEFIT FROM 30 CENT PRICE INCREASE

NORCO, a 100% Australian farmer owned dairy co-operative, continues to applaud and support the efforts of all those who are fighting to raise awareness of the dire situation being faced by dairy farmers due to the severe drought coupled with escalating input costs on farms.

NORCO’s Chairman, Greg McNamara believes the media campaign and publicity surrounding the ten cent ($0.10) per litre increase applied to the retail shelf price of the Coles branded 3L white milk is founded with the best intentions and NORCO has pledged to support the initiative.

"This initiative by Coles will not impact the five cent ($0.05) per litre increase that NORCO has applied to its farm gate milk price for the duration of September and October, which will provide an extra $1.8m directly back to its dairy farmer Members. It is NORCO’s desire to be able to continue to fund this increase beyond October," Mr McNamara said.

"In response to those who are calling for a boycott of Coles until a milk levy is applied to all brands and products, we do not condone nor support this sentiment. We encourage consumers to continue to show their support for NORCO, by purchasing NORCO products from all retailers, including Coles."
