North Grafton Sewer Treatment Plant Works Commenced

Construction works commenced at the North Grafton Sewer Treatment Plant this week with the works forming part of Council's commitment to upgrade critical sewerage infrastructure and ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of the facility.

Works are expected to take approximately 18 months. Activities on site will generally occur between 7:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, and between 8:00am and 1:00pm on Saturday as required. Operational works within the plant will continue on a 24-hour basis.

Part of these works involves the handling, relation and placement of asbestos-containing material currently located within the designated areas of the facility. All asbestos-related activities will be undertaken strictly in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, the NSW Work Health and Safety Regulations 2017, SafeWork NSW Codes of Practice, and Site Environmental Protection License.

Air monitoring, dust suppression, material containment, and controlled access zones will be implemented to ensure the safety of workers, the community, and the environment.
