North Terrace club fined, South Australia

Today investigators from the COVID Compliance team today issued a $5000 fine to a licensed premises on North Terrace in the CBD for a significant breach of the Public Activities Direction.

An investigation commenced following a complaint from a member of the public.

Footage obtained shows a complete disregard of the State Coordinators Directions.

The complete failure of the venue to comply, potentially puts the public at risk and the licensing sector at risk of further restrictions. The venue completely ignored their responsibilities in relation to enforcing physical distancing and operating as a nightclub.

SAPOL COVID Compliance have referred the breach of COVID-19 Directions to the Liquor & Gambling Commissioner to consider whether disciplinary action against the licensee is warranted.

COVID Compliance teams will be out in force this weekend and will be taking positive action, including fine or court action with the potential a licensed premises will be forced to close.

Any breaches identified of COVID-19 directions relating to the liquor industry will be referred to the Liquor & Gambling Commissioner to consider whether disciplinary action against the licensee is warranted.
