Nothing new from lacklustre Labor

Nic Street,Liberal Member for Franklin

Rebecca White's lacklustre State of the State reply was an embarrassing indictment on a Labor party with no clear plan for our State's future.

Not one new policy, with far too much hot air wasted on delivering a strange rolling resume of her team's previous occupations.

Tasmanians care about what you stand for, Ms White, not who may or may not be standing behind you.

Reading out your colleagues' CVs doesn't hide the fact that after seven years in Opposition, Ms White and Labor still have no plan, and nothing new to say.

In stark contrast the Premier yesterday outlined a clear plan, with bold new policies to secure Tasmania's future, and new initiatives to keep growing our economy.

To build a better health and mental health system, to improve housing, education, and deliver a major reform in skills to train our young people for much needed local tradie, apprentice and trainee jobs.

A plan extensively consulted with Tasmanians through the Premier's Economic Social and Recovery Advisory Council (PESRAC), and supported in spades yesterday by numerous business and community groups, including the TICT, TCCI, TasCoSS, the MBA and HIA.

We call on Ms White to support the 52 recommendations in the PESRAC Final Report and ignore the distractions of the ongoing factional games in the Labor Party.

We won't be distracted by Labor's negativity, we will continue to implement our clear plan to create jobs and invest in the essential services our State needs as we recover from the pandemic and secure Tasmania's future.
