NSW floods claiming this Easter long weekend

Department of Human Services

Residents affected by the recent flooding in New South Wales can continue to claim disaster assistance over the Easter holiday period.

General Manager Hank Jongen says Services Australia will continue to provide phone and on-the-ground support to devastated communities this long weekend.

"While most of our phone lines and service centres will be closed across the Easter weekend, our Disaster Assistance phone line and some service centres in flood affected communities will be open this Saturday and Easter Monday to take flood assistance claims," Mr Jongen said.

"The 180 22 66 number will be open from 8am to 5pm local time on Saturday, 3 April and 8am to 5pm local time on Monday, 5 April.

"Our Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Taree, Moree and Hawkesbury Service Centres will also be open from 9am to 1pm on Saturday and Monday to take claims for disaster assistance payments."

"Our Mobile Service Centres and Mobile Service Teams will also be available on the ground and at Recovery Centres this weekend. Go to servicesaustralia.gov.au and search for 'how to access our services' for the latest information on locations and opening hours."

The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment of $1000 for eligible adults and $400 for eligible children is available to people severely affected by floodwaters. This includes people whose homes have been severely damaged or destroyed by floodwaters; those who have been seriously injured in floodwaters; or the immediate family members of those who have died as a result of the floods.
